A 43-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a gun inside a Burger King Friday night.

Officers with the Franklin, Ky. Police Department were dispatched around 11:56 p.m. to the Burger King on Nashville Road following reports of an armed man fighting another customer.

Investigators said Jason M. Daugherty had entered the restaurant and engaged in a verbal confrontation with another man before going out to his vehicle to retrieve a handgun.

According to police, Daugherty reentered the business brandishing the firearm, but the victim fought him off, causing Daugherty to lose control of both the gun and a pocketknife.

Responding officers detained both men, who were still actively fighting when police arrived. No severe injuries were reported.

Daugherty was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempted first-degree assault
  • First-degree wanton endangerment
  • Menacing
  • Second-degree disorderly conduct
  • Third-degree terroristic threatening
  • Possession of marijuana

The Franklin Police department was assisted by The Simpson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police at the scene.
