Multiple fatalities confirmed in Jessamine County plane crash

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that two people died as a result of a plane crash that occurred Saturday morning in Nicholasville in a farm off of Kentucky Route 169 between U.S. 27 and U.S. 68.

The sheriff’s office is working alongside the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the fatal plane crash.

“We were able to pinpoint the crash due to eyewitnesses,” Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Grimes said.

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating a reported plane crash in Nicholasville.

According to Sheriff Grimes, the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington noted a plane off radar sending distress signals around 8:46 Saturday morning. The small plane ended up crashing on a farm off of Kentucky Route 169 between U.S. 27 and U.S. 68 in Jessamine County.

“We started receiving multiple 911 calls of what appeared to be an airplane in distress. We also received a call from Bluegrass Airport that they were tracking an aircraft that had left the airport and that they lost sight of it on radar,” Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Grimes said
At this time, the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office cannot confirm if there are any injuries or fatalities as a result of the plane crash.

According to a social media post by the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane that crashed was a CA6-WB.

Online flight records reveal that the plane, registered as #N82BT, departed from the Blue Grass Airport at 8:40 a.m. and was last seen in the air at 8:46 a.m., with a total flight duration of six minutes. The plane reached a maximum altitude of 3,300 feet and a maximum speed of 189 miles per hour. The actual flight distance was 10 miles.

“We feel for them and we’re praying for them and we hope that they found some solace that we’re doing the best we can to at least try to determine what happened with this crash,” Grimes said.
