The city of Lexington announced street closures for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Freedom March.
The march, scheduled to run from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, is themed “The Right to Live, The Right to Choose: Health, Ballots & The Beloved Community,” according to VisitLex, inviting the community to “reflect on King’s vision through the lens of public health, voting rights and the ongoing pursuit of a just and compassionate society.”
Lexington’s traffic ticker states that at 12:30 p.m., inbound East Main Street will be closed at East Vine Street, and inbound West Main Street will be closed at Newtown Pike.
Once the march starts, there will be rolling closures on Vine, Broadway, Rose and Main Street, the traffic ticker reported, and Vine Street will begin to reopen between Broadway and Rose Street.
Main Street will “progressively reopen” as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Freedom March continues and until it finishes.
