Kentucky Wins Seven on Final Day of Crossroads of America Invite

The Kentucky Wildcats concluded the final day of the Crossroads of America Invitational today in Indianapolis, Ind., highlighted by another impressive outing from the men’s and women’s hurdles groups.

UK capped off the two-day meet with six more event wins on Saturday, improving the team’s total to 12 for the week.

The Wildcats continued their early season dominance in the men’s and women’s hurdles event, with Emmi Scales and Anthony Waterman earning their third and second event wins of the season, respectively. In the women’s 60m hurdles, Kentucky took each of the top four spots with Camden Bentley, Kori Martin and Rukia Nusra Omulisia following Scales on the leaderboard. Anthony Waterman later won the men’s 60m hurdles with a time of 7.93.

Fresh off a win in the 200m final yesterday, senior Hannah Douglas won her second event of the meet in the women’s 400m race, finishing with the ninth-fastest time in program history at 52.87.

Senior Theo Mudzengerere won his third consecutive event to open the new season with a first-place finish and a 16.09m mark in the men’s triple jump final. Devin Sealey and Grayson Brashear capped off the weekend’s field events with a pair of second place finishes in the men’s high jump and shot-put finals.

In the 800m events, freshman standout Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera won the women’s event with the 10th-best time in UK history at 2:06.20 and junior Patrick Faust placed second on the men’s side with a personal best time of 1:49.52.

The Wildcats capped off the meet with a pair of wins in the relay events, winning the women’s 4x400m relay with a time of 3:36.39 and finishing atop the leaderboard in the men’s 4x400m relay with a 3:08.55 time.

Next week, the Wildcats will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 30-31 and their first of two trips to Fayetteville during the indoor season.
