The last 89 stores run by American Signature Inc.’s two furniture retailers are slated to close permanently as part of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy, filed in November. Going-out-of-business sales are underway at Value City Furniture’s 79 stores across 13 states, and American Signature Furniture’s 10 stores in Delaware and Florida.  Students returned to Kentucky State University on Monday for the first day of classes since two shootings last semester. In December 19-year-old De’Jon Fox Junior was killed, and another student was injured near a residence hall. Jacob Bard was charged, but a grand jury chose not to indict him. Eight people have been displaced after a Lexington house fire according to officials with the Lexington Fire Department. Officials say crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of Geranium Lane just after 4:40 p.m. Monday. Crews located and extinguished a fire inside the kitchen, but the result is 2 adults, and 6 children have been displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported. Credit: WKYT/LEX18
