Family members of two men killed at the same Madison County intersection are pushing for safety changes after three people died there in about eight months.
Bill Wason died Aug. 27, 2025, in a crash on Duncannon Lane near the entrance of Buc-ee’s. Since his death, two more people have been killed at the same intersection.
Steven Wason said a driver hit his father while he was on his motorcycle. He said his dad landed 150 feet away and died instantly.
“I feel like the blood’s on the state’s hands at this point,” Steven Wason said. “Like, I can understand not making a change after one or two, but after three?”
Steven Wason said he lives on Duncannon Lane and passes the intersection regularly.
“I was thinking like this is the last thing he saw, you know, it was the last thing he saw,” he said.
Scott Turner was hit at the exact same spot while also making a left turn on April 18, 2026. Rachel Grigsby, Turner’s sister, said it has been difficult since her brother’s death.
Grigsby has been texting with Steven Wason. The two plan to meet at the intersection Saturday at noon, along with other family members, to remember those they lost.
“We just don’t want to see this happen ever again to anyone else’s loved one,” Grigsby said. “If we can do anything to prevent this from happening again and to bring actual change that will make it safer, then you know his legacy will kind of live on in that way.”
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said state offices are closed Friday for Juneteenth and would look into the intersection next week.
