Man dies in Wednesday drowning incident in Trigg County

A 74-year-old man has died in a Wednesday drowning incident in the Sugar Bay area of Land Between the Lakes, the Trigg County Coroner’s Office announced Thursday.

According to Coroner John Mark Vinson, the office was dispatched June 10 to the area at LBL in Cadiz to investigate a death “associated with a drowning accident.”

The deceased was identified as Durrett Michael Bennet, 74, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Trigg County Coroner’s Office is investigating the accident. Trigg County Rescue, Trigg County EMS, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Kentucky Water Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Marshall County Rescue Squad and Lyon County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
