Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office investigating home invasion and shooting

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reported responding to the call of a home invasion on Friday, Jan. 16 in Madisonville.

According to the HCSO, deputies were dispatched to Fowler Road in Madisonville where they discovered upon arrival that the homeowner had shot the suspected home invader. Deputies said they found that the suspect had forced his way into the home, before a struggle between the suspect and homeowner ensued.

HCSO said the homeowner then retrieved a firearm and shot the suspect during a struggle while the suspect was still inside the home. The condition of both the suspect and homeowner are unknown at this time.

The case is still currently under investigation. The identity and condition of the homeowner and suspect have yet to be released.
