Couple found dead in Metcalfe County

Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Wednesday morning at a residence in Metcalfe County.

According to KSP Post 15, troopers and detectives were called to Shady Grove Wickerville Road at approximately 9:35 a.m. CST on Jan. 14 following a report of a shooting.

Investigators found Doris June Huffman, 83, of Hardyville, deceased inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Metcalfe County coroner.

Authorities also located her husband, Vander Huffman, 87, inside the residence with life-threatening injuries from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital by the Barren County coroner.

Kentucky State Police said the case remains under investigation.
