Man arrested after fire at Bowling Green grocery store

An individual is in custody after authorities responded to a fire at a Kroger grocery store.

Police say Derek Coleman, 35, was arrested after he allegedly set two Halloween displays on fire at the 31-W Bypass location, as well as two displays outside the store.

Coleman’s motive for starting the fires is unknown.

He is facing the following charges:

  • First-degree arson
  • Wanton endangerment
  • First-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine
  • Second-degree disorderly conducted
  • Second-degree criminal mischief
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

No injuries were reported as a result of the fires.
